Alkmaar

Alkmaar is 30 mins away by train from Amsterdam, it's famous of its cheese market. More than 3000 kg of cheese is gathered to be auctioned.

That was a lot of cheese! Other than the market, the stands that sell little handcraft stuff and cheese with different flavor in small portion were also nice. The best ones we tried were chili flavor gouda and herbal gout cheese. We bought a sample box with 5 or 6 different ones, at the beginning it was so tasty, but until the 3rd or 4th, it was just too much...

And the coolest thing was seeing cheese porters throwing cheese around in the container like bowling! Very inspiring...

Egmond aan Zee

We went to Egmond aan Zee, a small village on the North Sea coast in northern Holland, for a weekend early this month. It was warm, still a bit windy, but it was the best beach experience that we had around the North Sea :)
